The month of December. Always one for jolly gatherings, over eating, over drinking, over doing anything as next year is not just a new start, it is THE new start. Unlike the last few years. No. This time it is going to be different. So enjoy while you can, as it is your last chance to indulge before you put your body through a military style programme to obtain that perfect physique that would put the Hollywood world to shame.
Well the New Year has been and gone and we are on the brink of February. So…be honest now, how many resolutions have you broken and how many times did you break them?
The New Year always start with the best intentions, and a few of us even stick to them right through the year, but the majority fall into the never ending cycle of losing interesting in new diets, fitness programmes and back into old habits. Throwing us right back where we started BUT with the additional weight…..in December, over eating, over drinking and making the same New Year’s resolutions we know we are never going to keep.
So how do we to stop this? Well, the hardest part is admitting that you need to stop this unproductive behaviour, the second hardest part is remove all distractions so you can have a clear view of yourself. Yes I know, easier said than done, trust me I have been there and struggled, but to move forward, you need to do this, you need to try, it is all for YOU after all.
Do what works for you, meditate, book a holiday for one, go for a long drive, go to a spa, just anything to give yourself time to spend with…..well yourself. You might not like what you find, on the other hand you might love what you discover and if that is truly so, then I say carry on but if not, what to do?
Take a deep breath and say to yourself “I’m not perfect, but I’m perfectly fine with it“, but here is the catch, you need to MEAN it. Then plan your goals, but give yourself a break, take your time, make mistakes just do not give up, because in all honesty does it REALLY matter how long it takes if we get there in the end?
